Biography
Ian is Global Director of Cities, working across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa on some of the most pioneering and innovative planning and regeneration projects of our generation.
With more than 35 years of experience, Ian has a deep understanding of the political, commercial, and social drivers that shape cities and influence urban transformation. He has led the creation of masterplans around the world, including the International Financial Centre in Dubai, a cultural and entertainment district for Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, and a mixed-use community at 205 Feddan in Cairo, alongside the public realm strategy for the revitalisation of Fleet Street Quarter in London. More recently, Ian led the masterplan for Baghdad Sustainable Forests, transforming a 10 million-square-metre site into a mixed-use district set within an extensive forest.
Cities provide some of the greatest illustrations of human culture, creativity, and historic endeavour, yet they also reveal, in sharp contrast, the challenges we now face. The design of our cities should maintain and repair the best of what we have created and plan for a better future.
