Opportunity

As workplace needs continued to evolve, Spacestor saw an opportunity to create adaptable settings that could change over time without construction, permanence, or visual rigidity.

As workplaces evolved, the need for more welcoming, adaptable, and human-centred environments became increasingly important. In collaboration with Gensler, Spacestor developed a solution that defines space without construction, enabling designers to create areas for focus, collaboration, privacy, and connection. Inspired by classical architectural forms and biophilic principles, the design combines soft forms and fluid geometry within a flexible, reconfigurable system. Built from just five core elements, Aeonica creates a new landscape for work, offering endless configurations that adapt to changing teams, behaviours, and workplace needs.

Why This Matters

  1. 01

    Change Without Construction

Aeonica helps organisations reshape workplace settings quickly, reducing reliance on fixed partitions and giving teams more freedom to respond as work patterns shift.

  2. 02

    Human-Centred Workplace Experiences

Its organic forms and integration of biophilic principles, earthy colours, and acoustic surfaces bring warmth to open environments, helping workplaces feel more inviting, relaxed, and human-centred.

  3. 03

    Design Freedom at Scale

A simple kit-of-parts gives designers a repeatable yet expressive system, supporting everything from quiet nooks to larger spatial landscapes.

Involving Gensler as product design consultants was hugely valuable, bringing a level of architectural thinking on shapes, dimensions and materiality.

Solution

Gensler transformed five geometric components into an intuitive, reconfigurable system inspired by classical architecture and built for evolving workplace needs.

Aeonica’s solution lies in its simplicity: five inter-compatible forms that can be joined, separated, reused, and reassembled to create a wide range of spatial typologies. Drawing from arches, colonnades, cloisters, rotundas, and pantheons, the system gives designers a familiar architectural language without prescribing a fixed outcome. Its unique quick-release joining system supports repeated reconfiguration, while soft upholstered surfaces and a mineral-inspired palette help create settings that feel acoustic, welcoming, and adaptable.

Endless reconfigurations

[NEEDS INPUT: statistic label]

From brief to build: how five geometric forms became a flexible micro-architecture toolkit for the changing workplace.

Rather than start with a fixed furniture solution, the team studied how architectural elements could become flexible space-making tools. Early sketches explored arches, thresholds, enclosure, and rhythm before translating those ideas into modular components. Proportion, softness, colour, acoustics, and joinery were developed together, allowing the final system to balance visual character with the practical demands of repeated assembly, movement, and reuse.

Impact

Aeonica gives designers a lasting spatial system, helping workplaces adapt with less construction, greater reuse, and more human-centred experiences.

Its flexible kit-of-parts turns open space into focus, collaboration, and gathering settings that can continue evolving over time.
