Overview
A bold entertainment destination blends luxury and heritage offering visitors a dynamic blend of entertainment, dining, and accommodations.
Opportunity
Today’s travelers are seeking culturally rich and memorable stays.
In response, hotel operators are focusing more on immersive, hyper-localized experiences and integrated resorts that merge entertainment, gaming, dining, and shopping with hospitality in one location. These combinations are attracting guests who are looking for meaningful social connections and authentic experiences. Integrated resorts can also drive revenue with a variety of attractions and amenities that appeal to tourists year-round, not just during the peak season.

From brief to build: the team translated Athens's cultural and geographic identity, drawing on mythology, coastline, and ancient skyline, into a complex, multidisciplinary integrated resort designed for a global audience.
Gensler led the design by synthesizing Hard Rock’s brand identity with the cultural and geographic character of Athens. Mythological, nautical, and landscape references were translated into architectural form through the tower’s three-tiered massing and undulating façade. A multidisciplinary team coordinated across disciplines to resolve seismic and wind engineering complexity of the tower’s dynamic envelope.
Impact
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Athens will redefine luxury and entertainment in continental Europe.
As the first integrated resort of its kind in the country, this landmark project will drive economic growth, elevate tourism, and position Athens as a premier global hub for hospitality and entertainment.
