The hotel is in Fengxian District in southern Shanghai, within the Jinhai Lake resort. The waterfront setting places the hotel away from central Shanghai's dense urban core while keeping it within the metropolitan region. Contemporary hospitality coverage describes Fengxian as an emerging seaside and leisure destination on Hangzhou Bay.

The building's curved east and west wings follow the site's geometry and frame views toward the lake. Water is also extended into the landscape through connected water features, terraces, gardens, and outdoor spaces, creating a continuous relationship between hotel and waterfront.

The design gives guestrooms views of the lake, while the split-flow plan creates landscaped courtyards that bring daylight and air into the center of the building. Terraces and outdoor gardens provide additional opportunities to experience the landscape.

Rather than organizing guestrooms along a conventional enclosed corridor, the building divides its circulation into two flows around a landscaped courtyard. This opens the interior to natural light, air, and greenery while creating a more memorable arrival and circulation experience.

The hotel is elevated on three geometric bases, allowing the upper building volumes to curve and flow across the peninsula. This creates a more dynamic architectural form while maximizing lake views and accommodating the hotel's public amenities below.

The design prioritizes water, landscape, pedestrian movement, and outdoor spaces over conventional urban hotel planning. Guests experience the lake from their rooms, courtyards, terraces, dining areas, and circulation routes, creating a sense of escape from metropolitan life.
