Overview
As stadium and live sports experiences evolve, the Mets saw an opportunity to make every inning feel richer, more social, and distinctly New York.
Opportunity
What does a ballpark owe its fans beyond the game? At Citi Field, Gensler and the Mets set out to answer that question.
Today’s fans expect more freedom to move, gather, dine, and socialize without losing connection to the action. For the Mets, this shift created an opportunity to rethink underused areas across Citi Field. The goal was to create memorable hospitality offerings that strengthen the venue’s long-term appeal by adding premium seats, diversifying ways for fans to experience the ballpark, and deepening the fans’ connection to Mets history and New York culture.

Why This Matters
01
Extending the Game Day
The Mets wanted Citi Field to reward fans who arrive early, move around during the game, and linger afterward with compelling experiences beyond traditional seating.
02
Unlocking Hidden Value
Underused corners, patios, and suites presented an opportunity to create new hospitality offerings within the existing ballpark without a full transformation.
03
Making Premium Personal
Distinct environments offer fans new ways to experience gamedays.

Solution
Instead of treating hospitality as one experience, these strategic improvements yielded a collection of destinations shaped by location, audience, and New York character.
The Cadillac Club at Payson’s turns field-level space into a concealed speakeasy, pairing a hidden entrance with warm finishes, greenery, a private bar, and seats just feet from the action. Behind home plate, expanded suites with operable partitions create four-season rooms. The Empire Club channels an Art Deco-inspired cocktail lounge, while the Hijole Porch transforms a previously underused left-field corner into four social platforms with varied seating, a bar, and self-service food options.
Impact
The renovations give Citi Field a new hospitality ecosystem that turns previously overlooked real estate into coveted experiences with stronger fan and commercial value.
The upgrades introduce a more layered ballpark experience, with new places to gather, dine, socialize, and watch baseball from entirely different perspectives.
What Changed Because of This
01
Premium Demand
The Cadillac Club at Payson’s sold out with multi-year leases when it opened, demonstrating demand for field-level hospitality.
02
Underutilized Space Activated
A formerly dormant left-field area now provides over 11,000-square-feet across four spaces, with seating, gathering, and food-and-beverage options.
03
More Ways In
Fans can now move among intimate clubs, communal lounges, group platforms, and flexible suites, making a day at Citi Field more varied and experiential.
