Biography
As Managing Director of Gensler’s Newport Beach office and a Design Principal, James Young leads the design of award-winning campus workplace environments that enhance performance and elevate the human experience. Known for balancing creative vision with strategic leadership, he helps organizations navigate complex design challenges with clarity and purpose.
With a portfolio spanning master planning, architecture, and experimental interior concepts to large-scale corporate headquarters, James is recognized for creating environments that support people, culture, and business goals. A mentor, innovator, and advocate for design excellence, he continually explores new approaches that push projects beyond expectations. His work has earned numerous industry awards and has been featured in leading design and business publications, including Interior Design, Businessweek, Progressive Architecture, Fast Company, and Contract.
I believe architecture and interior design are inseparable disciplines. The shell of a building means little without the human experience unfolding inside or outside it.
