Biography
Michael is a Design Principal and Studio Director at Gensler, where he leads design-driven work across cultural, civic, mixed-use, residential, health, and life sciences projects. With more than 30 years of international experience spanning Europe and the United States, he is recognized for shaping transformative environments that respond to evolving social, cultural, and urban conditions.
Based in Los Angeles, Michael brings a deeply conceptual approach to design, viewing architecture as both a reflection of its time and a catalyst for meaningful change. Before joining Gensler, he held leadership roles at internationally acclaimed practices, including Coop Himmelb(l)au and REX, contributing to award-winning projects across a range of scales and typologies.
In addition to his professional work, Michael has taught at SCI-Arc and the University of Southern California and frequently speaks on architecture, urbanism, and design. He is a Registered Architect in California and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Design is a constant evolution — reflecting society, questioning the fundamental, and redefining the problems of our time to create meaningful, purposeful artifacts of humanity.
