For decades, U.S. Soccer operated without a centralized headquarters where athletes, coaches, referees, and staff could train, collaborate, and advance the sport together. The federation sought a campus capable of supporting all 27 National Teams while reflecting its mission to grow the game nationwide. Beyond elite performance, the project needed to embody accessibility, hospitality, and environmental stewardship, creating a destination that welcomed athletes of every ability and established a lasting identity for American soccer.

Gensler designed a timeless soccer campus where architecture, performance, hospitality, and inclusivity work together to create a unified home for the future of U.S. Soccer.
Inspired by iconic sporting campuses, the design balances elite performance with warmth, dignity, and community. More than a dozen outdoor fields, indoor training courts, headquarters offices, performance facilities, and hospitality spaces are organized around shared experiences that encourage interaction across the federation. Universal accessibility informed every aspect of the campus, while sustainable systems—including habitat preservation, renewable energy, and water-saving strategies — ensure the National Training Center performs as responsibly as it supports athletes on and off the field.

The design team worked closely with U.S. Soccer to create a campus that reflects the federation's strategic vision while supporting the daily needs of athletes, coaches, staff, and visitors. Inspiration from legendary sports campuses guided material selection, spatial organization, and architectural expression. Accessibility informed planning from the earliest stages, while sustainable strategies — including habitat preservation, renewable energy, efficient water systems, and healthy indoor environments — were integrated throughout the design rather than added as separate initiatives.
