Opportunity

After years of growth across multiple buildings, Bandwidth set out to build its long-envisioned home campus, unifying its people, culture, and purpose.

Bandwidth envisioned a headquarters that would cater to employees holistically, celebrating who they are and what they do. The neglected 25-acre property provided an opportunity to bring Bandwidth's employees together as "one big Band." Previously spread across multiple buildings, employees needed a unified workplace that strengthened culture, improved collaboration, and accommodated Bandwidth's future growth. The campus would fulfill a long-held company vision, transforming Bandwidth's founding aspiration into a permanent expression of its culture and values.

Solution

In partnership with Bandwidth, Gensler translated the company’s Whole Person Promise into a destination workplace where wellness, family, culture, and community are seamlessly integrated.

Inspired by North Carolina's landscapes, craftsmanship, and traditions, the headquarters campus combines workplace, childcare, recreation, and wellness amenities within a cohesive environment. Human-scaled porches create welcoming transitions between indoors and outdoors while biophilic design connects employees to surrounding forests, farmland, and open space. Interiors celebrate local culture through custom artwork, storytelling, and materials, while inclusive workplace strategies support neurodiverse needs and provide equitable experiences for employees throughout the organization.

The design process focused on understanding how Bandwidth's culture could be expressed through the built environment. Research explored climate responsiveness, workplace inclusion, wellness, childhood development, and local identity. These findings informed every aspect of the project, including porch-inspired architecture, nature-integrated planning, family-centered amenities, and diverse workplace settings. The result is a campus where architecture, interiors, landscape, and brand experience work together to support employee wellbeing and foster a strong sense of community.
