This headquarters relocation became an opportunity to make Deutsche Bank’s Americas presence more visible while also setting a new global workplace standard.
Facing a lease expiration and evolving expectations for how people work, this financial services firm needed more than a new address. Its leaders sought a prominent location near clients, an exceptional trading environment, and a flexible workplace that could support approximately 5,000 employees. Gensler evaluated six buildings against experience, technical performance, cost, schedule, and logistics. One Columbus Circle emerged as the rare option capable of uniting large trading floors, sophisticated client hospitality opportunities, and the energy of a mixed-use destination alongside Central Park.

A high-stakes financial workplace demanded an expansive response: trading floors filled with daylight, client journeys shaped by hospitality, and work enabled everywhere.
Gensler transformed the building’s unusual volumes into a connected workplace ecosystem. Double-height trading floors pair 20-foot ceilings and park views with spiral staircases and scenic mezzanines, creating openness while preserving controlled client access. Above, the sky lobby, conference center, dining spaces, and terraces choreograph a more personal arrival. Reservable desks, embedded charging capabilities, digital wayfinding, and app-based booking extend the workplace beyond assigned seats, allowing cafés, pantries, lounges, and amenity areas to support focused work, collaboration, and relationship building throughout the day.
