Overview

T-Mobile’s Bellevue headquarters renovation transforms a multi-building campus into a connected workplace shaped by brand, amenities, and outdoor access.

Opportunity

T-Mobile needed a headquarters that could connect its growing workforce and celebrate its unique brand and culture.

With its Bellevue workforce expanding, T-Mobile renewed its headquarters lease and committed to a campus-wide renovation rather than relocating. The existing campus needed to support recruiting and retention, reduce under-utilized space, strengthen navigation, and create a more current workplace experience. The project also needed to connect multiple buildings, make better use of outdoor areas, and translate T-Mobile’s customer-obsessed culture into a workplace where employees could collaborate and move easily across campus.

Why This Matters

  1. 01

    Staying Rooted

T-Mobile chose to stay in Bellevue and reinvest in its campus, turning a real estate decision into a workplace transformation.

  2. 02

    Connecting People

The campus needed to move beyond separate buildings and create clearer, more inviting paths for collaboration and everyday mobility.

  3. 03

    Competing for Talent

The redesigned workplace had to celebrate T-Mobile’s brand and support employee retention in a competitive technology labor market.

Solution

Gensler reimagined the campus as an amenity-rich, connected workplace where movement, brand expression, and choice shape the employee experience.

The approach centered on creating a connected and inclusive campus. New and renovated skybridges weave buildings together as an “amenity street,” while two vibrant amenity floors offer dining, coffee, a pub, a happy hour bar, and gathering space. A 1,000-square-foot grand staircase links the amenity floors and doubles as amphitheater seating. Above, agile workspaces, meeting rooms, huddle rooms, brainstorming walls, and open executive offices support a range of workstyles.

How data, workplace strategy, and phased implementation transformed T-Mobile’s headquarters into a more connected campus.

Gensler’s process began with a comprehensive study of how people worked, drawing on survey data, interviews, workshops, and workplace observations to inform campus navigation, programming, space planning, and the brand experience. The team aligned the workplace program with opportunities identified through strategy work, including increasing capacity, eliminating under-utilized spaces, and giving employees more adaptable ways to work. A three-year change-management and implementation effort helped phase construction while preparing teams for new workstyles.

Impact

The renovated campus creates a more connected workplace experience with new amenities, mobility, outdoor access, and wellness-focused strategies.

The workplace supports more than 6,000 employees with spaces for collaboration, focus, gathering, dining, movement, and restorative outdoor use.
