TikTok sought a workplace that prioritized people over branding while expressing its creative culture through an authentic connection to Mexico City.

As workplace expectations continue to evolve, TikTok envisioned an office that could attract talent by offering more than traditional corporate amenities. The project challenged conventional tech workplace design by shifting the focus from brand expression to human experience.

The new environment needed to foster creativity, collaboration, and well-being while reflecting the energy of Mexico City’s artistic community. The opportunity was to create a workplace where local culture and global innovation naturally reinforce one another.

Solution

Inspired by Mexico City’s contemporary art scene, the workplace transforms circulation into an immersive journey that connects creativity and hospitality.

Drawing inspiration from neighboring art galleries, the office is organized around a central circulation spine that encourages exploration and interaction. Curved forms inspired by TikTok’s swipe motion create fluid transitions between collaborative and focused work settings. Works by local artists, custom millwork, and regionally sourced materials, including volcanic stone and handcrafted tile, anchor the workplace in its cultural context. Hospitality-inspired amenities, flexible planning, and sustainable design strategies support a dynamic employee experience that balances creativity with everyday well-being.

The design process explored how movement, culture, and everyday experience could shape a more engaging workplace. Research into Mexico City’s contemporary art scene informed the office’s spatial narrative, while workplace strategy prioritized flexibility, collaboration, and employee well-being. Material selection focused on locally sourced finishes that reduce environmental impact while strengthening the project’s regional identity. These decisions created a workplace where architecture supports creative expression and organizational performance.
