James Crispino

Biography

James Crispino is a Principal and healthcare leader at Gensler with more than 25 years of experience planning and designing academic medical centers, research institutes, and healthcare environments.

James's work focuses on advancing patient-centered care through design strategies that integrate emerging technology, operational performance, community health, and long-term sustainability. A recognized thought leader in healthcare design, he advocates for a holistic approach that positions healthcare facilities as essential community assets, expanding access, well-being, and health outcomes beyond the walls of the hospital.

His expertise spans healthcare planning, adaptive reuse, ambulatory care, and performance-based design, and he is a registered architect who regularly speaks at national and international industry conferences. James's research and project work continue to shape new models for healthcare delivery that respond to evolving patient, provider, and community needs.
