Biography
Valeria is Managing Director and Principal at Gensler Madrid. She has more than 20 years’ experience helping clients transform and reposition existing assets to create long-term value. Her expertise spans adaptive reuse, workplace and sustainable design, with a focus on design strategies that balance commercial, environmental and human priorities.
Valeria’s work spans commercial offices, mixed-use developments, hospitality, residential and cultural projects, with a particular focus on transforming existing buildings to unlock new value through sustainable, circular design. She has led the transformation of landmark buildings across London, including the former City Hall, The Acre and 100 New Bridge Street, helping clients reposition assets for changing market demands and evolving patterns of work. An advocate for the next generation of architects, Valeria is also a sought-after speaker and industry judge, sharing her expertise at international design events including Salone del Mobile and ORGATEC, and serving on the FRAME Awards jury.
I’m very interested in the concept of the ‘new-new build’ — learning from retrofit and applying that thinking to new construction. For me, it’s about looking at what we already have, understanding its potential, and creating something new from it.
